ALMOST HOME!

Sorry for the lack of posting recently, we have all been enjoying R&R too much! We just spent 3 nights on Ko Samet a beautiful island off the south coast. We are in Bangkok now ready to leave tonight. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Sa bai deeeee!!!!

Hey faithful blog followers!

As we are in Luang Prabang once more thought we would put up some requested photos and let you know what is going down.

We have just finished our project phase in Ban Nam Nga where we successfully painted the inside and out of the primary school and also managed to start on the secondary school which meant we were given double the amount of lao lao whisky at the goodbye ceremony last night, not so good for everyone!!

Our week has been amazing as we got to spend lots of time meeting the entire village, especially the children many of whom were very sad to see us leave, tears on both sides! It was an fantastic experience seeing the difference we were able to make to the lives of the village in such a short space of time and were very thankful for the way the people welcomed us and allowed us to see their very different way of life. The goodbye ceremony was brilliant fun and was enjoyed by both sides but particularly by us and the children who danced to both lao and western music throughout the night! For our reciprocation to their ceremony we performed an acoustic version of wonderwall and a jazzed up version of the macarena, they found it pretty hilarious! We are also all decked out with “spirit strings” on our wrists, about 50 on each wrist!! These are to show the people’s blessing and keep bad spirits away.

We are generally looking forward our trekking phase which starts in Thailand on Monday so hopefully we will be able to let you know how that went once we are on R & R after!

we’re alive!

hey everyone

We’re finally checking in on a quick excursion to Luang Prabang we are currently doing our project phase now in a village called Bam Nam Nga where we are painting every inch of the village primary school. We have set up residence in the pre school and covered the place in the mosquito nets. Talking of mosquitos! Some people have been somewhat eaten alive and have turned into one big bite, Becki stopped counting at 50!

So far we have spent alot of time traveling up and down thailand and loas on various modes of transport, everyones favourite being the tuk tuk.

The acclimatisation trek pushed everyone especially the 2 hour vertical uphill climb of the seemingly never ending mountain. However the trek allowed us to stay with two different hill tribes and see a COMPLETELY different way of life.

Overall everyone is having a fantastic time though sometimes missing home and luruxies, but don’t worry we’re all ok. Laos is gorgeous and we’re enjoying everything about it.
